Overview

Genetik is a Microsoft Excel floating-point genetic algorithm to solve minimization and/or optimization problems. Genetik is a user-friendly, menu-driven Microsoft Excel-97 workbook, which uses an elitism strategy with whole linear crossover, non uniform mutation, and tournament selection, in order to solve optimization and/or minimization tasks. Many alternatives are possible. The simplest one is to use a transitional penalty term. Violated constraints are squared, multiplied by a penalty coefficient, and added to the fitness function. Usually, the penalty coefficient is a large number. Moreover, constraints may be handled by transitional penalty terms.
